Dawn Patrol Californina Common, Tasting Notes
Aroma: Baked bread, slight pinecone sharpness from the (More than style) Cascade dry hop additions.
Appearance: Golden Amber color, very clear body. A thick whimsical white head is pronounced. (Not in this picture above unfortunately)
Flavor: Very sharp bitterness that does not linger on my tongue. Malty with some breadiness that I adds personality. Hints of pine, evergreen and toast. Finishes very clean, maybe the cleanest homebrew I've done?
Mouthfeel: Crisp carbonation throughout, very drinkable and finishing on the dry side.
Overall Impression: This was my 1st California Common that I've ever done. The clean finish really surprised me.
Brewing Timeline/Notes: This was brewed July 17th. This is my 1st dip into controlled fermentation's below the normal 63+ temps. I know this is a Common and not a lager, but I brewed it like a traditional Lager. More as a test run for my new Lagering temp control system. Everything worked out great. As I'm writing this, I have my Beersmith brewing program open working on the next brew, taking advantage of this new equipment.
